Regensburg, March 26, 2026
lifespin had the honour of welcoming Judith Gerlach, Bavaria’s Minister of Health, Care and Prevention, to its offices at BioPark Regensburg.
After a warm welcome, Minister Gerlach observed the MetaboPRO test in action. This was followed by an in-depth discussion of lifespin’s journey, its NMR‑based metabolomics approach, and the vision of making deep metabolic health insights accessible to a broad population.
The visit quickly moved to the substance of the matter. Chronic non‑communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, fatty liver disease, and metabolic syndrome account for around 74% of all deaths globally. Most of these conditions develop silently over many years – and most are preventable if metabolic changes are identified early enough.
Against this backdrop, the discussion focused on the role solutions like MetaboPRO can play in strengthening prevention. Topics included the best approach for large‑scale impact, and how existing partnerships and initiatives could support a more effective, prevention‑oriented approach to healthcare.
The visit concluded with a tour of the lifespin demo laboratory.
Effective prevention must be accessible, affordable, and actionable. It was highly motivating to see this vision resonating with somebody who is shaping health policy.
